The question I get most in the weeks after an engagement is what color the bridesmaids should wear. The answer has changed a lot in my thirty years. Matching is out of fashion for now. Most parties I plan today use one style in two to four colors, or one color in a few cuts, and the photos come out warmer for it.
Here are 20 bridesmaid dress color schemes for 2027 weddings, each built from dresses you can order now. Every one comes with the bouquet, the groomsmen’s suit, the season it suits and the photo I’d ask your photographer for. The first six are the looks Pinterest keeps showing on its bridesmaid color page.
What’s trending, and where the numbers come from
Blue is selling. Kennedy Blue, the only brand that publishes its rankings, says blue has just passed green as its most requested color family. Cornflower is its number one dress color, and sky blue is the swatch people order most. Its 2027 list opens with sky blue and slate blue.
Green is the base. Zola’s survey of more than 11,500 couples found green in 53 percent of 2026 weddings, with sage the main color at 30 percent. Pinterest’s own description of this trend names eucalyptus green and dusty sage.
Plum and olive are the new story. Pinterest’s 2026 wedding report has plum and olive weddings up 1,380 percent, fig 515 percent, midnight teal 470 percent and merlot 370 percent. Saves for bridesmaid dress colors rose 30 percent in a month and peaked in mid-October, right in proposal season.
Butter yellow is the pastel. Kennedy Blue calls its Buttercup a sleeper hit and expects it to carry into 2027. Jenny Yoo, David’s Bridal and 100 Layer Cake all name it too.
Pantone points at the bride. The 2026 Color of the Year is Cloud Dancer, a soft white. That makes the rule about bridesmaids stricter: nothing close to ivory. Pantone hadn’t named its 2027 color when I wrote this.
How I’d choose
Start with the season. Kennedy Blue’s lists are a good guide. Spring is sky, blossom, light sage, lilac and buttercup. Summer is cornflower, sea glass, coral and sage. Fall is rust, terracotta, burgundy, marigold and olive. Winter is emerald, sapphire, bordeaux, eggplant and black.
Then the venue. Azazie’s advice matches what I’ve seen. A ballroom wants navy, burgundy or emerald in satin or velvet. A garden suits sage, dusty rose or lavender in chiffon. On a beach, dusty blue, aqua or coral in chiffon looks right, and black or heavy fabric looks wrong. A barn is the place for rust, olive and terracotta. Look at the carpet and walls too, since you can’t change them.
Stay one or two shades off the flowers. Matching the bouquet exactly makes it vanish in photos. A shade lighter or darker keeps both visible.
Two to four colors, one fabric. This is the rule every brand I read shares. Kennedy Blue allows two to four shades with the same undertone, and says to keep the fabric the same when the colors vary a lot. An ombré works with three to five shades of one color, light to dark.
Think about skin tone. Navy, burgundy, emerald and dusty blue suit almost everyone. Very pale pastels and beige can wash out deep and fair skin alike. Lime and yellow-greens are hard on olive skin. If one bridesmaid struggles with the color, give her the next shade along in the same family.
Think about the camera. Bright sun makes colors look lighter and flatter. Mid-tones and dusty shades photograph best, pale pastels can wash out, and a green dress on green grass can look like part of the lawn.
Order swatches. Never pick from a screen. David’s Bridal sends three free swatches, and I hold them next to the flowers and the suit fabric in the venue’s light.
David’s Bridal quotes planner data saying mismatched parties are now three times more popular than matching ones. The easiest way to do it well is one style in several colors from one brand, so the fabric and dye are the same.
The looks from Pinterest (ideas 1 to 6)
1. Hot Tropics: pink, orange, yellow and royal blue

The dresses: Kennedy Blue Felicity Luxe Satin ($119.99 on sale, sizes 00-32) in Peony, Cantaloupe, Buttercup and Royal Blue, with the maid of honor in Revelry Serena Satin in Tangerine ($199, made to order, sizes 0-32).
Bouquets: A different single-color posy for each woman (zinnias, ranunculus, dahlias), one shade off her dress.
Groomsmen: The Black Tux Navy Blue Suit, $169 to rent.
When and where: Summer, outdoors or at a destination wedding in full sun.
Photo to take: A line-up on a whitewashed terrace with every posy raised at once.
This is the brightest board on Pinterest’s bridesmaid page right now, and David’s Bridal calls the palette Hot Tropics. One satin style in four colors keeps it planned. Strong sun is where these brights hold up best, so I save them for summer.
2. Deep plum strapless satin beside a brown-suited groom

The dresses: Thread Annie TH143 in Deep Plum ($179, stretch satin, strapless with optional straps), with the maid of honor in Dessy Jillian 3169 in Deep Plum ($279, satin twill, scoop neck, drop-waist skirt).
Bouquets: Burgundy and blush dahlias with dark plum calla lilies.
Groomsmen: Generation Tux Allure Dark Brown Suit, $159 to rent.
When and where: Fall, at a vineyard or old estate.
Photo to take: The couple kissing in the middle while the bridesmaids cheer around them.
Pinterest has plum wedding themes up 630 percent and merlot up 370 percent, and this is the look from the trend page that I’d frame. Plum with a chocolate-brown suit is warmer than plum with black. Put the maid of honor in a second cut of the same shade so she stands out without a new color.
3. Blush florals with olive and green satin

The dresses: Maid of honor in Lulus Thriving Poise Blush 3D Floral tie-strap maxi ($138), with bridesmaids in Lulus Poised Performance Olive plissé one-shoulder maxi ($89) and Kennedy Blue Bridget in Green ($99.99, strapless satin, sizes 00-32).
Bouquets: Pink garden roses and peonies.
Groomsmen: SuitShop Dark Green Suit, $224.
When and where: Late spring, in a garden or orchard.
Photo to take: Walking two by two under blossom trees.
Pinterest’s plum and olive search is up 1,380 percent, and dusty olive 270 percent. The pink bouquets carry the color across the green dresses, which is why this board works. A floral maid of honor ties it together.
4. Butter, sage, lilac and sky in one style

The dresses: Kennedy Blue Kelly ($109.99 on sale, chiffon, square neck, flutter sleeves, sizes 00-32) in Buttercup, Sage, French Lilac and Sky.
Bouquets: A loose white bouquet with sweet peas and a touch of each pastel.
Groomsmen: SuitShop Linen-Look Sea Foam, $124 on sale.
When and where: Spring, in a garden or at an estate.
Photo to take: Arm in arm on a garden lawn.
This is the pastel mix from the Pinterest page, and Kennedy Blue names Kelly as its own French Lilac pick. Butter and lilac are on its lists for this year and next. One style in four colors is the easiest mismatched party to order.
5. Lemon-to-matcha ombré at a stone wall

The dresses: Birdy Grey Gwennie Chiffon ($99, sizes XXS-3X, ships in 24 to 48 hours) in Lemon Sorbet, Butter, Pale Pistachio, Pistachio and Matcha.
Bouquets: White and cream with green hellebores or green hydrangea.
Groomsmen: SuitShop Linen-Look Sage, $248.
When and where: Late spring or summer, against old stone.
Photo to take: Lightest to darkest along a stone wall.
No shop I checked sells a true lime bridesmaid dress, so pistachio is the closest to the lime ombré on Pinterest. Pantone’s spring 2027 palette has a pale yellow-green and a daiquiri green, which backs it up. Give the darker greens to anyone with olive skin.
6. Eucalyptus and dusty sage, satin with chiffon

The dresses: Birdy Grey Lydia Matte Satin in Eucalyptus ($129), Kennedy Blue Quin in Dusty Sage ($99.99, satin cowl sheath), and for the maid of honor Christian Siriano for Azazie 1013 in Eucalyptus ($159, chiffon, off-shoulder sweetheart, pleated skirt).
Bouquets: White garden roses with silver-dollar eucalyptus.
Groomsmen: SuitShop Linen-Look Brown, $248.
When and where: Summer, in a garden with some shade.
Photo to take: In the shade of a big tree, sharing a laugh.
Pinterest’s own description of this trend names eucalyptus green and dusty sage, and Kennedy Blue calls eucalyptus the new green. Mixing matte satin with chiffon gives the softness you see in the pins. Shoot them in shade, because green next to bright grass can look flat.
Greens, yellows and blues (ideas 7 to 10)
7. Olive, forest and emerald

The dresses: Kennedy Blue Juliet ($99.99 on sale, chiffon, square neck, short bow sleeves, slit, made to order) in Olive Green, Forest Green and Emerald.
Bouquets: Burgundy dahlias, rust ranunculus and dark foliage.
Groomsmen: SuitShop Olive Green Tweed or Brown Tweed, $399.
When and where: October to December, in the woods or an industrial venue.
Photo to take: By tall steel windows in a converted warehouse.
The Knot found dark green at 35 percent of weddings from October to December. Three greens in one style read as a planned ombré. Kennedy Blue sells moss, olive and forest as a set for 2027, too.
8. Butter yellow in three cuts

The dresses: Thread Augusta TH126 ($179, satin, square neck, slit), After Six 1545 ($218, chiffon high-neck halter, open back) and Dessy Adair 3200 for the maid of honor ($289, strapless satin column), all in Butter Yellow.
Bouquets: White and blue: delphinium with white roses.
Groomsmen: SuitShop Navy Blue, $199.
When and where: Summer, at a vineyard or rooftop at golden hour.
Photo to take: A golden-hour walk between the vines.
Kennedy Blue ranks Buttercup ninth by orders and calls it a sleeper hit. One color in three cuts from one dye house means the yellow matches. A creamy butter suits more skin tones than lemon.
9. Buttercup and Whisper Blue, ready to ship

The dresses: Jenny Yoo Farley ($295, tiered halter chiffon, ready to ship in sizes 0-26, made to order 00-32), half in Buttercup and half in Whisper Blue.
Bouquets: White anemones with yellow ranunculus.
Groomsmen: SuitShop Linen-Look Denim Blue, $124 on sale.
When and where: Summer on the coast, and the pick for a short engagement.
Photo to take: On a cliff path with the sea behind.
Jenny Yoo puts both colors on its trend list, and the ready-to-ship ones leave in a day or two. That makes this the party I’d plan for a short engagement. Two colors split down the middle look tidy in a group photo.
10. Light blue to navy in one style

The dresses: Kennedy Blue Emery ($109.99 on sale, satin plunge V, sheath, criss-cross back) in Light Blue, Dusty Blue and Navy Blue, with the maid of honor in navy.
Bouquets: All-white bouquets.
Groomsmen: The Black Tux Midnight Blue Tuxedo, $179 to rent.
When and where: Any season, on the coast by day or in a ballroom at night.
Photo to take: Blue hour on a harbour terrace.
Kennedy Blue says blue has just passed green as its most requested family, with Cornflower its top seller. Light to dark in one style is the simplest ombré there is. White bouquets read clean against every step.
Berry, burgundy and jewel tones (ideas 11 to 14)
11. Desert Rose and Rosewood velvet

The dresses: Kennedy Blue Carmen ($99.99, velvet V-neck fit-and-flare, slit, made to order) in Desert Rose and Rosewood.
Bouquets: Cream and burgundy roses with dried amaranth.
Groomsmen: SuitShop Burgundy Suit, $224.
When and where: Fall or winter, indoors in warm light.
Photo to take: On a manor staircase by lamplight.
Rosewood is one of Kennedy Blue’s top pinks, and Pinterest has muted rose up 345 percent. Two pinks in velvet feel warm in winter. For spring, the same store sells Dusty Rose in satin.
12. Cabernet satin

The dresses: Thread Juno TH147 in Cabernet ($179, satin cowl, bow straps, sizes 00-18W), or Birdy Grey Kira Velvet in Cabernet ($109, to 3X) for larger sizes.
Bouquets: White and blush, never red.
Groomsmen: The Black Tux Burgundy Shawl Tuxedo for the groom ($199 to rent), groomsmen in black with burgundy velvet bow ties ($21.99).
When and where: Fall or winter, in a ballroom.
Photo to take: On the dance floor in flash.
Kennedy Blue says maroon and bordeaux lead its reds. Juno stops at 18W, so I’d put anyone above that in the Kira velvet in the same color. Keep the bouquets pale or they disappear against the dress.
13. Emerald, sapphire, peacock and ruby velvet

The dresses: Birdy Grey Kira Velvet ($109, one-shoulder, slit, sizes XXS-3X, ships in 24 to 48 hours) in Emerald, Sapphire Blue, Peacock and Ruby Red.
Bouquets: White amaryllis with winter greenery.
Groomsmen: The Black Tux Emerald Shawl Tuxedo for the groom, Black Velvet Jacket Tuxedo for the groomsmen ($199 each to rent).
When and where: December, by candlelight.
Photo to take: Candles in hand in a stone chapel.
Kennedy Blue pairs emerald with sapphire, and jewel tones in velvet are what Azazie suggests for a ballroom. Four colors in one stretch style is easy on everyone’s size. It’s my favorite party for a holiday wedding.
14. Fig and olive velvet

The dresses: Birdy Grey Daphne Velvet in Fig ($109, turtleneck halter, slit, sizes XXS-3X) and Birdy Grey Kira Velvet in Olive ($109).
Bouquets: Figs, plum dahlias and olive branches.
Groomsmen: The Black Tux Plum Shawl Tuxedo, $199 to rent.
When and where: Fall, at a farm table or vineyard.
Photo to take: Toasting at a long farm table.
Fig weddings are up 515 percent on Pinterest and plum with olive is the biggest jump in its wedding report. Same velvet, two colors, so the textures match. Reviewers say Daphne runs big, so check the size chart.
Browns, neutrals, navy, black and prints (ideas 15 to 20)
15. Espresso and chocolate satin

The dresses: After Six Liv 6912 ($248, one-shoulder bias) and After Six Nisha 6904 ($269, one-shoulder cowl, fit-and-flare) in Espresso, with the maid of honor in Show Me Your Mumu Bella Maxi in Chocolate Luxe Satin ($228).
Bouquets: Cream and toffee roses with dried grasses.
Groomsmen: SuitShop Brown Tweed, $399.
When and where: Fall, in a library or lodge.
Photo to take: Among the bookshelves by a tall window.
Jenny Yoo lists espresso as a trending color, and Kennedy Blue has mocha on its 2027 list. Espresso and chocolate come from different dye houses, so plan them as two shades on purpose. Brown photographs rich in window light.
16. Champagne, latte and taupe

The dresses: Kennedy Blue Felicity Luxe Satin in Champagne ($119.99), Emery in Taupe ($109.99) and Carmen velvet in Latte ($99.99).
Bouquets: Blush and terracotta roses.
Groomsmen: Generation Tux Allure Dark Brown, $159 to rent.
When and where: Any season, best at an evening or golden-hour reception.
Photo to take: On a terrace at dusk.
Kennedy Blue sells more fawn, champagne and latte than any other neutral. Check every shade next to the bride’s dress in daylight, because pale neutrals sit close to ivory. For summer, drop the velvet and keep the two satins.
17. Rust and terracotta with a floral print

The dresses: Revelry Quinn Velvet in Rust ($199) and Livvy Velvet in Terracotta ($229), with the maid of honor in Paloma Satin Floral Print in Rust Bouquet ($229), all made to order in sizes 0-32 and four lengths.
Bouquets: Marigold, peach and sage foliage.
Groomsmen: SuitShop Olive Green Suit, $224.
When and where: Fall, at a barn or desert venue.
Photo to take: Golden hour in the desert.
Muted terracotta is up 545 percent on Pinterest, and Zola has terracotta and rust at 7 percent each. Revelry cuts in four lengths, which is the best workaround for petite and tall bridesmaids I found. The print is satin and the solids are velvet, a texture mix I like.
18. Midnight navy with teal groomsmen

The dresses: Dessy Colette 3176 in Midnight Navy ($289, satin twill, scoop neck, full skirt), with the maid of honor in After Six Sabine 6920 in Navy ($345, shirt-dress gown, three-quarter sleeves).
Bouquets: White ranunculus with dusty miller.
Groomsmen: SuitShop Teal Suit, $224, or The Black Tux Midnight Blue Tuxedo, $179 to rent.
When and where: Winter, in a ballroom or city hotel.
Photo to take: On the hotel steps in light snow.
Pinterest has midnight teal up 470 percent, and I put it on the groomsmen so the bridesmaids stay classic navy. Sabine has sleeves and a collar for anyone who wants more cover. Navy is one of the colors Azazie says suits almost every skin tone.
19. Black satin with a black peony print

The dresses: Thread Augusta TH126 in Black ($179, satin, square neck, slit), with the maid of honor in Show Me Your Mumu Juliet Maxi in Charm Peony Black Taffeta ($178 on sale, strapless corset, full skirt).
Bouquets: Blush and white peonies.
Groomsmen: The Black Tux Black Velvet Jacket Tuxedo, $199 to rent.
When and where: Winter or New Year’s Eve, black tie.
Photo to take: In a hotel bar at midnight.
Black is fifth on Kennedy Blue’s list of most-ordered colors, and The Knot calls it safe at a formal hotel wedding. A peony print on the maid of honor keeps it from feeling severe. The Juliet is a sale item, so ask about returns.
20. Secret Garden print with eucalyptus solids

The dresses: Maid of honor in Show Me Your Mumu Anderson Maxi in Secret Garden ($178), with bridesmaids in Christian Siriano for Azazie 1013 in Eucalyptus ($159) or Lulus Renni Sage Floral Jacquard one-shoulder maxi ($99).
Bouquets: Two or three flower colors pulled straight from the print.
Groomsmen: The Black Tux Tan Suit, $179 to rent.
When and where: Spring, at a botanical garden or estate.
Photo to take: Inside a glasshouse among the ferns.
The Knot suggests a floral maid of honor with the rest in a solid, and this print has green as its base. Zola’s Secret Garden palette is sage, blush and champagne. For a smaller budget, the Lulus jacquard adds texture for under $100.
Plus size, petite and timing
Kennedy Blue runs from 00 to 32, Revelry from 0 to 32, and Birdy Grey to 3X. Thread’s Juno stops at 18W and Show Me Your Mumu at XXL, so for those two ideas I’ve named a swap. None of the brands I checked has a petite cut. Revelry’s four lengths are the best workaround, and a good tailor does the rest.
Birdy Grey ships in a day or two, and Jenny Yoo’s ready-to-ship styles leave as fast. Most of the others are made to order, and none told me how long that takes. Jenny Yoo advises ordering made-to-order styles six to eight months ahead, and Azazie says three to four months. I’d confirm the ship date at checkout.
Before you order
Kennedy Blue’s prices are sale prices and may go back up. Some Lulus, Birdy Grey Lydia and Revelry details came from listing pages, so check the fabric and sizes on the product page. Kennedy Blue’s Bridget in Green is a shade I couldn’t see in person, so swatch it. The Show Me Your Mumu Juliet is on sale, and I couldn’t confirm whether it’s final sale. I didn’t check stock size by size for any dress.
Where I’d start
For a spring or summer wedding, I’d start with idea 4: four pastels in one Kennedy Blue style. For fall, idea 14, fig and olive velvet from Birdy Grey, is the one I’d book, and it ships fast.
Still planning the rest? These may help:
About the research
I used Kennedy Blue’s color trend pages and its 2026 and 2027 guides, Zola’s 2026 First Look Report, The Knot’s wedding color study, Pinterest’s 2026 Wedding Trends Report and Pinterest Trends for bridesmaid dress colors, Jenny Yoo, THE WED, 100 Layer Cake, David’s Bridal, Azazie, Ever-Pretty UK, FashionUnited on Pantone’s spring 2027 palette, and the product pages at Kennedy Blue, Birdy Grey, Jenny Yoo, Dessy, Thread, After Six, Azazie, Revelry, Lulus, Show Me Your Mumu, The Black Tux, Generation Tux and SuitShop, checked on November 7, 2026.
