For most of my thirty years in this work, the groom in a light jacket was the one at the beach wedding. That has changed fast. On Pinterest’s trend page, saves for ivory and cream tuxedos rose 400 percent in a month and peaked in early November. Three of this year’s best-known grooms wore one.
The appeal is easy to see in photos. An ivory jacket sits next to a wedding dress without fighting it, and it catches warm light the way black can’t. Below are 18 ivory and cream tuxedos you can buy or rent right now, from a $119 rental to a $3,550 Ralph Lauren. I’ve added the trousers, shirt and shoes for each one, plus the wedding it suits and the photo to ask for.
Why ivory, and why now
The grooms. Mondo Duplantis married near Cannes in June in a white double-breasted raw-silk jacket by Saman Amel with black patent loafers. MrBeast wore a white Ralph Lauren jacket with black trousers on Necker Island, and Charles Leclerc married in an ivory Brunello Cucinelli suit.
The data. Pinterest’s 2026 wedding report doesn’t track ivory tuxes by name, but it shows grooms dressing up: men’s jewellery up 890 percent, silver earrings up 875 percent, bracelets 595 percent, pinky rings 550 percent and brooches, which grooms now pin where the boutonniere used to go, up 435 percent.
The forecast. Bride Club ME’s 2026 groom forecast names ivory among the shades rising for evening ceremonies, and tonal ivory, sand and stone for destination weddings.
The rules worth knowing
Ivory over bright white. Every menswear source I read prefers ivory, cream or off-white. Bright white looks harsh and doesn’t flatter fair skin, and The Black Tux says ivory looks better under warm light. Rental shops mostly stock white, so check the shade against the dress.
Black trousers. The classic look is an ivory jacket with black satin-stripe trousers, which started as 1930s resort wear and became famous on Bogart in Casablanca. Shawl lapels suit it best and peak lapels are fine. A cummerbund goes with a single-breasted jacket only.
Warm evenings. Gentleman’s Gazette says Memorial Day to Labor Day, or all year in the tropics. The Black Tux puts the line at about 75 degrees in the evening. I’ve marked the three winter looks below as deliberate rule-breakers.
Matching undertones. Men’s Wearhouse says never to wear a cream jacket with a bright white shirt. I’d say the same about the groom and the dress: ivory next to ivory, cream next to champagne, so neither looks yellow.
The finishing pieces. Wear a black self-tie bow tie and black patent shoes, with silver or mother-of-pearl cufflinks. Sayki says brown shoes break the black and white palette. White suspenders won’t show through a light jacket.
Groomsmen. Black tuxedos, so the groom stands out. Bride Club ME’s 2026 alternative is sand, stone and mocha suits, which I love for day weddings.
The classics: ivory jacket, black trousers (ideas 1 to 5)
1. The rooftop classic: an off-white shawl dinner jacket

Buy it: Suitsupply Havana Dinner Jacket in Off-White, $649 (wool from Rogna, Italy, shawl lapel). Suitsupply bow tie $49, SuitShop Don Juan patent shoes $99, silver cufflinks $25, pocket square $7.50.
Wear it with: Black satin-stripe trousers, a white pleated shirt with a turndown collar, a black self-tie grosgrain bow tie and a white linen pocket square in a straight fold.
Where it works: A city rooftop on a summer evening.
Photo to ask for: Buttoning the jacket, then a hand on the lapel to show the curve of the shawl.
If you only read one entry, read this one. It’s the classic look, an ivory jacket with black trousers, and the 4-ply wool has enough texture to read well in photos.
2. The summer ballroom line-up: a white dinner jacket with black-tux groomsmen

Buy it: Brooks Brothers 1818 Dinner Jacket, $998 (listed as White; only 10 available, no big and tall). SuitShop black satin cummerbund $49.
Wear it with: Black tuxedo trousers with a black satin cummerbund, a white wingtip-collar shirt, a black self-tie bow tie, mother-of-pearl studs and black patent oxfords.
Where it works: A summer country club or hotel ballroom.
Photo to ask for: The groomsmen line, with the groom a step forward and a little brighter.
Putting the groomsmen in black is the advice every menswear source agreed on. It makes the groom the one person in the photo you see first. Brooks Brothers calls this colour white, so hold it up next to the dress before you buy.
3. The vineyard golden hour: a cream dinner jacket with a silk scarf

Buy it: J.Crew Ludlow slim-fit dinner jacket in Italian wool, colour Antique Linen, $698 (4.7 stars from 29 reviews).
Wear it with: Black tuxedo trousers, a white soft-collar shirt, a cream silk scarf knotted loosely at the neck, black velvet loafers and a silver pinky ring.
Where it works: A vineyard reception in late summer.
Photo to ask for: A low-angle golden-hour portrait against the vines and sky.
Troye Sivan wore a scarf with a white Tom Ford tux at the Oscars this year, and THE WED lists the scarf as a 2026 groom trend. Pinky rings are up 550 percent on Pinterest.
4. The island black tie: a cream shawl jacket at sunset

Buy it: Ralph Lauren Purple Label Gregory Dinner Jacket in Ivory/Cream, 3,550 at Harrods (currency not confirmed).
Wear it with: Black tuxedo trousers, a white piqué-bib shirt with French cuffs, a black self-tie bow tie, silver studs and black patent oxfords.
Where it works: A tropical destination at sunset.
Photo to ask for: The first look on a terrace path.
MrBeast married on Necker Island in a white Ralph Lauren jacket with black trousers. This is the splurge version. A tropical island is the one place the warm-weather rule never applies.
5. The jazz club groom: off-white with grosgrain lapels

Buy it: Edward Sexton Off-White Shawl Dinner Jacket, £1,700 (crease-resistant wool, silk grosgrain facings; size 40 backordered).
Wear it with: High-waisted black trousers with white suspenders, a pleated white shirt, a black grosgrain bow tie, black patent shoes, vintage cufflinks and a thin silver chain bracelet.
Where it works: A jazz club or speakeasy reception.
Photo to ask for: Direct flash at the bar, or a backlit group shot with the groomsmen.
Jazz club weddings are up 1,115 percent on Pinterest. Edward Sexton’s cloth is crease-resistant, which helps in a crowded room. Men’s jewellery is up 890 percent, so a chain bracelet is right on time.
Double-breasted and destination (ideas 6 and 7)
6. The Riviera double-breasted: ivory linen-silk

Buy it: Favourbrook Ivory Randwick Linen Double Breasted Dinner Jacket, £890 (silk-linen, cloth-covered buttons; only 2 left).
Wear it with: High-waisted black trousers (no cummerbund with a double-breasted jacket), a white turndown-collar shirt, a black bow tie, black patent loafers and a dress watch.
Where it works: A Mediterranean château or summer destination.
Photo to ask for: Getting ready, with his father helping him into the jacket.
Mondo Duplantis married near Cannes in June in a white double-breasted raw-silk jacket by Saman Amel, with black patent loafers. This is the closest one you can buy, and linen-silk is right for heat.
7. The garden estate moiré: peak lapels and a brooch

Buy it: Favourbrook Ivory Theobold Cotton Dinner Jacket, £690 (herringbone cotton, ivory moiré silk peak lapels; stock unclear).
Wear it with: Black tuxedo trousers, a cream shirt to match the jacket, a black self-tie bow tie, black patent shoes, an heirloom brooch and a coloured silk pocket square.
Where it works: A garden estate ceremony in summer.
Photo to ask for: His mother pinning the brooch.
Brooches are up 435 percent on Pinterest, mostly pinned where a boutonniere would go. Gentleman’s Gazette says a coloured pocket square is fine when there’s no flower.
Velvet and the city (ideas 8 and 9)
8. The winter white velvet

Buy it: Todd Snyder Italian Velvet Peak Lapel Dinner Jacket in Cream, listed at $264 (check this price; it looks like a markdown).
Wear it with: Black wool tuxedo trousers, a white wingtip shirt, a black bow tie, black velvet loafers, silver cufflinks and a thin silver chain.
Where it works: A winter or holiday evening wedding.
Photo to ask for: Candlelight, or a flash portrait outside in the cold.
Most rules say no ivory after Labor Day. Permanent Style says winter whites can look very good, and velvet makes a cream jacket feel like December. Chain necklaces are up 360 percent on Pinterest.
9. The city hall mirror selfie

Buy it: Charles Tyrwhitt Ivory Dinnerwear jacket, £319 (shawl lapel with grosgrain facing; the matching trousers are sold out). SuitShop grosgrain bow tie $24.
Wear it with: Your own black tuxedo trousers, a white turndown shirt, a black grosgrain bow tie, black patent shoes and a slim watch.
Where it works: A town hall or city ceremony in late spring.
Photo to ask for: A mirror selfie while he fixes his bow tie.
A mirror selfie in the jacket is the photo grooms keep sending me, and it’s all over Pinterest’s ivory tux page. It’s also the best way to check the shade under your own light.
Rentals for the beach and garden (ideas 10 and 11)
10. The beach resort rental

Buy it: The Black Tux White Dinner Tuxedo Jacket, rent $119 plus fees or buy $495 (one view showed $179 and $695; listed as White, no ivory).
Wear it with: Black tuxedo trousers, a white plain-front shirt, a black bow tie, black patent shoes and a white pocket square.
Where it works: A beach resort at about 6pm in July.
Photo to ask for: Groom and groomsmen walking toward the camera on the sand.
The Black Tux says white jackets belong to evenings above about 75 degrees. A July beach at 6pm is the example it uses itself.
11. The budget garden rental

Buy it: Generation Tux White Tuxedo Jacket with shawl lapel, rent $149 (polyester; listed as White).
Wear it with: Black tuxedo trousers, a white shirt, a black bow tie, black patent shoes, a fresh boutonniere and silver cufflinks.
Where it works: A backyard or garden ceremony in summer.
Photo to ask for: A getting-ready flat-lay, then the boutonniere going on.
Rental shops only stock white, not ivory, so hold the jacket up against the dress before the day. For a backyard wedding, $149 makes sense.
Under $400 with presence (ideas 12 to 18)
12. The Art Deco double-breasted

Buy it: SuitShop Ivory White & Black Double Breasted Tuxedo Jacket, $249 (satin peak lapels with black accents, six satin-covered buttons; made to order, 8 to 10 weeks, final sale).
Wear it with: Black tuxedo trousers, a white wingtip shirt, a black grosgrain bow tie, Don Juan patent shoes and a silver bracelet.
Where it works: A downtown Art Deco hotel in the evening.
Photo to ask for: A full-length portrait at the event, double-breasted front fastened.
Order this one ten weeks out. A wide satin peak lapel on a double-breasted jacket is the most formal look here for under $250. Bracelets for men are up 595 percent on Pinterest.
13. The all-ivory beach monochrome

Buy it: SuitShop Limited Edition Ivory White Shawl Lapel Tuxedo, $294 (read from a collection listing; check fabric and pieces).
Wear it with: Matching ivory trousers, an ivory shirt, a white bow tie, white loafers, one silver earring and pearl cufflinks.
Where it works: A barefoot-luxe beach destination.
Photo to ask for: A three-frame window-light portrait: to camera, a side glance, a laugh.
Head to toe in ivory is the look etiquette writers call themed, and fashion editors call sleek. I’d keep it for the beach. Silver earrings are up 875 percent on Pinterest.
14. The destination double-breasted set

Buy it: Perfect Tux Ivory Classic Fit Double Breasted Tuxedo, $299.99 (jacket, ivory trousers and bow tie; sizes XS to 6XL; the lapel is described two ways, so check).
Wear it with: The matching ivory trousers and bow tie, a white shirt, black patent shoes and a dress watch.
Where it works: A resort destination wedding.
Photo to ask for: The first look: a tap on the shoulder and the turn.
Sizes go up to 6XL, so this is the set I’d send a big and tall groom to. It comes with trousers and a bow tie, which saves a second order.
15. The speakeasy jacquard four-piece

Buy it: Perfect Tux Ivory Textured Jacquard Tuxedo 4-Piece Set, $249.99 (jacket, double-breasted vest, trousers and bow tie; several sizes sold out).
Wear it with: The matching jacquard vest, trousers and bow tie, a white wingtip shirt, black patent shoes, vintage cufflinks and a pinky ring.
Where it works: A speakeasy or jazz club reception.
Photo to ask for: Walking down a staircase in flash.
Ivory jacquard is the most-saved look on Pinterest’s ivory tux page right now. The double-breasted vest means you can take the jacket off at midnight and still look dressed.
16. The winter ballroom damask

Buy it: Perfect Tux Off-White / Ivory Satin Damask 4-Piece Tuxedo Set with Peak Lapel, from $319.99 (fabric and stock not confirmed).
Wear it with: The matching vest and trousers, a white shirt, a black bow tie to calm the pattern, black patent shoes, an heirloom brooch and silver studs.
Where it works: A winter hotel ballroom.
Photo to ask for: A formal solo portrait under chandelier light.
The Black Tux puts December ballrooms in black. If you want ivory anyway, a satin damask is my vote, because the pattern looks deliberate. Have your photographer set white balance from a grey card.
17. The greenhouse three-piece with black lapels

Buy it: Perfect Tux Ivory Slim Fit Tuxedo with Black Shawl Lapel, 3-piece, $299.99 (jacket, trousers and vest; several sizes sold out).
Wear it with: The matching trousers and four-button vest, a white shirt, a black bow tie, black patent shoes, a silver brooch and a white pocket square.
Where it works: A glass greenhouse wedding in spring.
Photo to ask for: The best man pinning the brooch, then jacket off to show the waistcoat.
Greenhouse weddings are up 100 percent on Pinterest. A black lapel on ivory gives you the contrast of a tux without black trousers.
18. The cream suit with a green tie for a day wedding

Buy it: Perfect Tux Ivory 3-Piece Suit with Large Notch Lapel, from $279.99. SuitShop grosgrain slim tie in Dark Green $24, Adler patent loafers in dark green $155.
Wear it with: The matching vest and trousers, a cream shirt, a dark green slim tie, dark green patent loafers, a chain bracelet and a pocket square.
Where it works: A ranch or vineyard day wedding.
Photo to ask for: A golden-hour walk with groomsmen in sand, stone and mocha suits.
Charles Leclerc married in an ivory Brunello Cucinelli suit, and this is the day-wedding version. Plum and olive is the colour pair of the year on Pinterest, up 1,380 percent, so a dark green tie fits right in.
Buy or rent?
The Knot puts the average tux rental at $205, and rental shops charge $119 to $149 for these jackets. The catch is that The Black Tux and Generation Tux only list white, not ivory. Buying starts at about $250 at SuitShop and Perfect Tux, though those are polyester and viscose blends, and wool runs $649 at Suitsupply to $998 at Brooks Brothers. Basic tailoring adds $50 to $150. If you’ll wear it again to summer black-tie events, buy one in wool.
Keeping it clean, and getting the photos right
Pack a stain pen, plus some chalk or baby powder for grease. Take the portraits before the reception, while the jacket is still clean, and keep the black trousers for anything near the bar.
Moneymaker Photography says not to set white balance from the jacket, since ivory is supposed to look warm. Ask your photographer to use a grey card and protect the highlights. SLR Lounge’s tip for grooms is to give your hands a job, like a cuff or a watch.
Where I’d start
For most couples I’d go with idea 1 or 12: an ivory dinner jacket with black trousers, a black bow tie and black patent shoes, groomsmen in black, and a summer evening wedding. Order early, check the shade against the dress, and add one piece of jewellery if you want this year’s touch.
