16 Green and Earth Tone Bridesmaid Dresses for 2026 and 2027

In 1996 I planned a September wedding in a vineyard outside Napa, and the bride asked her five bridesmaids to wear moss green. Her aunt called me twice to ask whether green was bad luck. It rained for ten minutes before the ceremony, the sun came out, and those five green dresses against the wet vines made the best photo of my year.

Green was unusual then. Today it is the most requested bridesmaid colour I see, and the browns, rusts and terracottas have followed it in. Below are 16 dresses you can actually buy, eight greens and eight earth tones, with the back of each one, the price and size range, and how I’d do hair and makeup on the day.

What the numbers say

Sage leads. Zola surveyed more than 11,500 couples for 2026. Sage was the top anchor colour at 30 percent, and some shade of green showed up in 53 percent of palettes. Terracotta and rust each came in at 7 percent.

Darker greens for the cold months. The Knot’s 2025 study found light green in 33 percent of palettes and dark green in 27 percent, rising to 35 percent for weddings from October to December.

Olive is the breakout. Pinterest’s 2026 wedding report shows plum and olive searches up 1,380 percent, muted terracotta up 545 percent, fig up 515 percent and dusty olive up 270 percent.

One honest note: these are wedding palette numbers. Nobody publishes bridesmaid dress sales by colour, so I’m reading the trend through the palettes couples choose.

The shades worth knowing

Sage. Soft, grey and easy to wear. It still sells the most.

Olive and moss. Warmer, a little yellow, and the green Pinterest is talking about for 2026.

Emerald and evergreen. Deep jewel greens for fall, winter and evening.

Mocha, cinnamon and espresso. Brown is back, and the creamier shades suit almost every skin tone.

Terracotta, rust and burnt orange. Warm clay colours for desert, ranch and harvest weddings.

How to mix greens and browns

Dessy’s advice is to keep every shade in one undertone family and pick two or three shades that run from light to dark. Revelry has a simple rule I like: of colour, fabric and silhouette, keep two the same and let one change. So if every girl wears satin in the same cut, the colours can shift from sage to olive. If the colours vary a lot, keep the fabric matching.

My favourite lineup for 2026 runs like a forest floor: sage at one end, then olive, moss, mocha and espresso. That order is my own suggestion, but it follows Dessy’s light to dark rule and Zola’s Desert Chic and Secret Garden palettes.

Fabrics and shapes

Liquid satin has overtaken chiffon in the bridal shops I visit, and a bias cut makes it move like water. Chiffon still wins for summer, garden and beach weddings because it breathes. From October on, look at velvet. It holds deep colour better than anything, and stretch velvet lets your girls dance. For shapes, halters, cowl necks, strapless with a bow, and slip dresses with slits are what the brands are selling now.

The greens (dresses 1 to 8)

1. Moss satin with criss-cross straps

The dress: A moss bias-cut charmeuse satin dress with a pointed halter neck, a triangle overlay at the waist and two knee-high side slits, double lined.

The back: Thin satin spaghetti straps crossing over the bare back, with a back zip.

Where to find it: Revelry Everly in Moss, $199, sizes 0 to 32, made to order in about 7 weeks.

Wedding day styling: A silk-pressed soft side part with sculpted Hollywood waves, warm bronzed skin and a brown-rose lip, small gold drop earrings and a small bouquet of dried grasses and white ranunculus.

Criss-cross straps make the back as pretty as the front. Revelry makes it to order in four lengths, which helps petite and tall bridesmaids.

2. Deep olive jacquard with a lace-up back

The dress: A strapless deep olive floral jacquard dress with an oversized front bow and a fitted mermaid shape.

The back: A lace-up corset back with a zip.

Where to find it: Revelry Esme in Deep Olive, $245, sizes 0 to 32.

Wedding day styling: A sleek infinity bun, a soft blackberry lip, small gold earrings and a bouquet of plum dahlias and olive branches.

Olive is the green of 2026, and Pinterest says plum and olive weddings are up 1,380 percent. A plum lip and plum flowers tie it together.

3. Olive satin halter with an open back

The dress: An olive satin twill high-neck halter dress with a soft trumpet skirt, fully lined.

The back: An open back with a covered button at the neck and a centre-back zip.

Where to find it: Alfred Sung Bryson D872 at Dessy, $269, sizes 00 to 30W, with 5 extra inches of length.

Wedding day styling: A soft updo with face-framing tendrils, vintage winged liner and a toasted neutral lip, gold hoop earrings and a bouquet of eucalyptus and peach roses.

Dessy offers this in six greens, so the whole party can mix shades. It goes to size 30W with extra length on request.

4. Olive crepe with a tie-back bow

The dress: An olive stretch crepe tank dress with skinny adjustable straps, built-in cups and a front slit.

The back: A cutout back tied in a bow with long streamers, over a zip.

Where to find it: Birdy Grey Benny, about $99, XS to 3X (check the olive stock).

Wedding day styling: A low chignon so the bow streamers fall clear, skin-first makeup with cream blush, small pearl studs and a bouquet of ferns and moss roses.

The bow streamers down the back are the detail people will photograph. Stretch crepe is comfortable all day.

5. Sage off-the-shoulder chiffon under $60

The dress: A sage chiffon dress with a pleated off-the-shoulder bodice, draped sleeves, a high waist, a slit and pockets.

The back: A plain back with an invisible zip.

Where to find it: Birdy Grey Spence in Sage, $54 on final sale (was $115), XS to 3X.

Wedding day styling: Loose French curls with a soft side part, warm glowing skin and a peach lip, pearl drop earrings and a bouquet of white garden roses and sage.

Sage is the most popular wedding colour of 2026 in Zola’s data. At $54, this is the best value here.

6. Sage burnout with elbow sleeves

The dress: A sage floral burnout maxi with a slight V-neck, elastic shoulders, elbow-length sleeves, an elastic waist, a tiered skirt and pockets.

The back: Elastic at the back neck and a plain back.

Where to find it: Baltic Born Hayward in Sage, $103.

Wedding day styling: A loose braid with a hair chain, dewy skin-first makeup, small gold studs and a bouquet of wildflowers and herbs.

Sleeves make this a good pick for a church or a cool evening. The tiers move when you walk.

7. Classic emerald jacquard with pockets

The dress: A matte emerald floral jacquard dress with a scoop neck, adjustable straps, an empire waist and a three-tiered A-line skirt with pockets.

The back: A lace-up back with a zip.

Where to find it: Revelry Juniper in Classic Emerald, $245, sizes 0 to 32.

Wedding day styling: A voluminous blowout, a red-brown lip, gold earrings and a bouquet of deep red roses and greenery.

The empire waist is kind to pregnant bridesmaids. The Knot says dark green weddings jump to 35 percent in fall and winter.

8. Evergreen satin with a bow back

The dress: An evergreen strapless satin twill maxi with a cuffed neckline and a column skirt, fully lined.

The back: A pre-tied bow with long trailing tails, covered buttons down the back to a slit, and a zip.

Where to find it: Alfred Sung Eliza D891 at Dessy, $289, sizes 00 to 30W.

Wedding day styling: A sleek low bun, a soft metallic lid and a nude lip, diamond studs and a bouquet of white amaryllis and pine.

The bow with long tails is the best back on this list. Evergreen is the colour for a winter wedding.

The earth tones (dresses 9 to 16)

9. Mocha chiffon with a cowl back

The dress: A mocha chiffon mermaid dress with a convertible cowl neck, removable drape sleeves and straps, and a slit.

The back: A low draped cowl back, with the zip in the side seam.

Where to find it: Birdy Grey Mira in Mocha, $129, XXS to 3X.

Wedding day styling: A faux bob with sculpted waves pinned at the nape, warm bronzer and toasted neutral eyes, gold earrings and a bouquet of toffee roses and dried wheat.

Brown is the earth tone of 2026, and mocha suits nearly every skin tone. The cowl back drapes softly in photos.

10. Terracotta chiffon for a desert wedding

The dress: The same convertible cowl-neck chiffon mermaid in terracotta.

The back: A low draped cowl back.

Where to find it: Birdy Grey Mira in Terracotta, $129, XXS to 3X.

Wedding day styling: Half-up hair with loose curls, peach-terracotta cream blush and lip, gold hoops and a bouquet of dried palm, pampas and orange roses.

Zola’s Desert Chic palette pairs terracotta with sage and sand. Mix this with the sage dresses above.

11. Rust satin jacquard under $30

The dress: A rust satin jacquard halter maxi with a fitted darted bodice and an A-line skirt, lined.

The back: An open back with a hidden button at the neck.

Where to find it: Lulus Alaria in Rust, $25 on sale (was $99), XS to XL.

Wedding day styling: A sleek high ponytail, a bronze lid and gold nails, gold cuff earrings and a bouquet of rust mums and pampas.

At $25 this is the cheapest dress here, but it stops at XL and stock may be limited.

12. Rust brown satin column

The dress: A rust brown stretch satin halter column with two buttons at the back of the halter and a back slit at the hem.

The back: Two covered buttons at the back of the halter and a short slit at the back hem.

Where to find it: Lulus Love in Your Life in Rust Brown, $98, XS to XL.

Wedding day styling: A sleek bob tucked behind one ear with a soft side part, warm glowing skin and a brown-rose lip, small gold studs and a bouquet of copper and cream roses.

A satin column is the simplest earth-tone look. Reviewers say it runs true to size.

13. Cinnamon satin with neck ties

The dress: A cinnamon bias-cut satin halter dress with crossover neck ties worn as a bow or a knot.

The back: A high back with a centre zip and the neck ties falling down.

Where to find it: Rewritten Roma in Cinnamon, €171.95 (EU price).

Wedding day styling: Sculpted Hollywood waves, caramel-toned glam, gold drop earrings and a bouquet of olive branches and champagne roses.

Rewritten suggests olive, rust and champagne together. This cinnamon satin fits right in.

14. Burnt orange velvet

The dress: A burnt orange stretch velvet dress with a cowl neck, skinny adjustable straps and a front slit.

The back: A plain back with an invisible zip.

Where to find it: Birdy Grey Ash Velvet in Burnt Orange, $99, XXS to 3X.

Wedding day styling: Voluminous waves, a copper lid and a terracotta lip, gold earrings and a bouquet of orange ranunculus and berries.

Velvet is the fabric for fall and winter, and stretch velvet moves well on the dance floor.

15. Espresso velvet

The dress: The same cowl-neck stretch velvet dress in espresso.

The back: A plain back with an invisible zip.

Where to find it: Birdy Grey Ash Velvet in Espresso, $99, XXS to 3X (check stock).

Wedding day styling: A faux bob with a deep side part, winged liner and a blackberry lip, gold earrings and a bouquet of burgundy dahlias and dark greenery.

Pair espresso velvet with sage velvet for a green and brown lineup that still feels like winter.

16. Spice velvet wrap with bell sleeves

The dress: A spice velvet wrap maxi with a V-neck and mid-length bell sleeves.

Where to find it: Baltic Born Meghan in Spice, $124 (check the back on the product page).

Wedding day styling: A loose braid, warm bronzed skin and a cinnamon lip, small gold hoops and a bouquet of rust roses and eucalyptus.

Bell sleeves keep you warm and covered for a church ceremony in the fall.

Hair and makeup for an earthy palette

Pinterest’s 2026 beauty searches line up neatly with green and brown dresses. Soft side parts are up 840 percent, telenovela hair (big, glossy blowouts) is up 895 percent, vintage Hollywood makeup is up 395 percent, the pammy updo is up 260 percent and the infinity bun is up 245 percent.

For the face, warm bronzer and brown or plum lips sit well against olive and moss. With rust and terracotta, a peach or cinnamon lip keeps everything in the same family. Let each bridesmaid pick a hairstyle she feels good in, and keep the makeup tones matching so the photos look planned.

Choosing a shade for each skin tone

The only advice I found on this comes from a retailer guide, so take it lightly and order swatches. Warm skin usually looks good in olive, moss, rust and terracotta. Cool skin tends to suit sage, emerald and espresso. Deep skin glows in jewel greens and burnt orange, where the colour has enough strength to show. If your party has a range of skin tones, a mix of shades from the same family lets each girl wear the one that suits her.

Swatches, sizing and petite tips

Swatches. Birdy Grey sends 10 free swatches. Revelry sends 5 free and offers a $10 home try-on. Kennedy Blue and Azazie swatches are free, and Rewritten charges £1.50 each.

Sizes. Revelry lists 0 to 32 (one page says 36, so ask), Dessy runs 00 to 30W with 5 extra inches of length on request, Birdy Grey goes to 3X and Lulus stops at XL.

Petite. None of these brands has a petite range. Revelry sells some dresses in different lengths, and any tailor can take up a hem. Slits and halters also make shorter women look taller.

Plus size. Dessy and Revelry have the widest ranges here. For more ideas, see my plus-size wedding dressesguide, which has cuts that suit bridesmaids too.

I couldn’t find a bridesmaid rental service that carries these colours right now, so plan to buy.

What they cost

Under $60. Lulus Alaria at $25 on sale and Birdy Grey Spence at $54 on final sale.

$60 to $130. Birdy Grey Benny, Mira and Ash Velvet, Lulus Love in Your Life, and Baltic Born’s Hayward and Meghan.

$130 to $300. Revelry’s Everly, Esme and Juniper, both Alfred Sung styles at Dessy, and Rewritten Roma at €171.95.

Final sale means no returns, so order a swatch first and check the size chart twice.

Where I’d start

If the wedding is in spring or summer, order sage and olive swatches from Birdy Grey and Revelry and lay them next to your flowers. For a fall or winter date, look at the velvets and the evergreen satin first, then add a mocha or espresso so the lineup has some warmth. Whatever you choose, ask each bridesmaid to turn around in the fitting room. The back is what the guests see during the ceremony.
